Pierburg is the actual OEM maker of the genuine BMW EGR valve on your B47/B57 diesel engine. This is a brand new valve, not a remanufactured unit as the dealer would sell you and there is NO core charge.

This is one of the common causes of the check engine light particularly on the 2.0 B47 engine (Drivetrain Fault), and a jammed open valve may even cause the engine to not start or stall. Improved DDE software was released to prevent recurrence along with an improved EGR valve - contact your nearest dealer for the software update.

WARNING: Suitable scan tool must be used for installation. DO NOT tighten screws unless the service function to retract the plunger has been performed. The scan tool is also required to reinitialise it after tightening the screws.
